Plavix belongs to a class of drug known as anti-platelet that is a drug that inhibits the ability of platelets to group together as a part of blood clot that would restrict blood flow to the heart, brain and other organs. Plavix is used to prevent strokes and heart attacks in patients who are at high risk. Plavix is also used along with aspirin for the prevention of thrombosis after placement of intracoronary stent or as an alternative antiplatelet drug for patients who are intolerant to aspirin. Clopidogrel Bisulfate is used to prevent vascular ischaemic events in patients with symptomatic atherosclerosis.

Clopidogrel bisulfate has ability to stop a natural substance called ADP from sticking to blood platelets. When ADP cannot stick to platelets it lose their ability to clot instantly and blood flows easily through arteries.

DOSAGES OF GENERIC PLAVIX (CLOPIDOGREL BISULFATE)

The recommended starting dose of Generic Plavix is 75 mg once daily. The highest dose of Generic Plavix is 300 mg daily.

DRUG INTERACTION OF GENERIC PLAVIX (CLOPIDOGREL BISULFATE):

Clopidogrel Bisulfate of Plavix drug interacts with non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, Nabumetone, fenoprofen, flurbiprofen, indomethacin might increase the risk of stomach and intestinal bleeding. Plavix at high concentration in the blood blocks the activity of an enzyme that metabolizes warfarin and blood thinner medications. Clopidogrel Bisulfate of Plavix drug gets converted into its active form by the enzyme of the liver. There are certain medications that reduce the activity of this enzyme which includes omeprazole, esomeprazole, fluxotine, cimetidine, Fluconazole, ketoconazole, ethaverine and fluvoxamine.
