Clomid Clomiphene 50mg for ovulation problem

Clomid belongs to a class of drug called as selective estrogen receptor modulator. Clomid Clomiphene 50mg is used to treat infertile women who have an ovulation problem. It increases the production of gonadotropins by inhibiting negative feedback on the hypothalamus. Clomiphene 50mg also increases the production of eggs (ovums) in the ovaries and can help women with luteal phase defect. It is use to treat infertility cause due to endometriosis.

MECHANISM OF ACTION OF GENERIC CLOMID (CLOMIPHENE 50mg)

Clomid is used to treat infertile women who have an ovulation problem, it acts by inhibiting the action of estrogen on the gonadotrope cells in the anterior pituitary gland. Follicle stimulating hormone release is increased because low estrogen level. This leads to higher rate of ovulation and hence pregnancy in women who are infertile due to ovulation problem and endometriosis.

The following are some side effects associated with Clomiphene 50mg.

• Gastrointestinal problems : Abdominal pain, pelvic pain or bloating, vomiting, nausea.
• Neurological problems : Headache, dizziness, lightheadness.
• Sensory problems : Blurred vision, mood changes.
• Gynecological problems : Enlargement of the ovaries, increased risk of ovarian cancer, over stimulation of the ovaries, spontaneous abortion.
• Skin problems :  Rash, hives, itching, swelling of the mouth, lips, face or tongue.
• Respiratory problems : Difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest.
• Other problems : Breast tenderness, enlargement of breasts, flushing.

• Clomiphene 50mg is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to it. 
• Clomiphene 50mg is contraindicated during pregnancy. 
  
• Clomiphene 50mg is contraindicated in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding of undetermined origin. 
• Clomiphene 50mg is contraindicated in patients with ovarian cysts or enlargement not due to polycystic ovarian syndrome.
• Clomiphene 50mg is contraindicated in women having liver disorders.

SAFETY MEASURES WHILE USING GENERIC CLOMID (CLOMIPHENE 50mg)

• Alcohol consumption and smoking should be avoided while using Clomid as these two reduces probability of conception.
• It is important to use Clomid as directed by the doctor to avoid any complications.
• Clomid is not for prolonged use. It should not be used for more than six cycles.
• Pregnant women and breast feeding mothers should not use Clomid (Clomiphene 50mg).
• Prolonged use of Clomid increases risk of ovarian cancer.

STORAGE OF GENERIC CLOMID (CLOMIPHENE 50mg)

Store Clomid at room temperature. Keep it away from excessive heat, direct light and moisture. Keep it away from children. Do not store Clomid in the bathroom.

DOSAGES OF GENERIC CLOMID (CLOMIPHENE 50mg)

The initial dose should be low, 50 mg daily for 5 days begin on or about the fifth day of cycle if progestin-induced bleeding is scheduled or spontaneous uterine bleeding occurs prior to therapy. If ovulation does not occur after the first course of therapy, a second course of 100 mg daily for 5 days should be given. The 5 day cycle may be repeated if needed as early as 30 days after the previous one. Increasing the doses or duration of therapy beyond 100 mg / 5 days is not recommended.
