MECHANISM OF GENERIC ALBUTEROL SALBUTAMOL:

Albuterol (Salbutamol)is a short acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist. Albuterol inhaler has greater affinity to attach to beta-2 adrenergic receptor then beta-1 receptor. Salbutamol activates the beta-2 receptors in the airways and helps to relax the bronchial smooth muscles. This results into the widening of the airway and helps to get comfort from asthma.

SIDE EFFECTS OF GENERIC ALBUTEROL SALBUTAMOL:

• Gastrointestinal problems: Nausea.
• Neurological problems: Increased heart rate, headache, and tremor.

The recommended starting dose of Albuterol inhaler for adults and children who are 4 years old and older is two puffs of Albuterol (Salbutamol) every 4 to 6 hours or as per requirement. If Albuterol is to be given to children younger than 4 years then it is advisable to consult a physician.

DRUG INTERACTION OF GENERIC ALBUTEROL SALBUTAMOL:

Before using any medication you should tell your doctor if you are already using any other medications. There are certain drugs that interfere with Salbutamol of Albuterol. Monoamine oxidase inhibitor medications such as Furazolidone, Isocarboxazide, Linezolid, Moclobemide, and Phenelzine should be avoided within 2 weeks before, during and after treatment with Albuterol inhaler (Salbutamol). If you are using anti cholinergic drugs like atropine, antihistamines like Meclizine, Diphenhydramine, antispasmodic drugs such as Dicyclomine then talk with your doctor before using Salbutamol of Albuterol. Some of the anti Parkinson’s drugs, beta blocker drugs, bladder control medications, tricyclic depression medication and water pill like Hydrochlorothiazide known to cause interaction of Albuterol inhaler(Salbutamol).

• Discuss with your doctor about the allergic reactions of Salbutamol of Albuterol inhaler .
• Tell your doctor about your medical history of certain diseases, if you have nay. If you are having medical history of heart diseases, high blood pressure, seizures, hyperthyroidism, low potassium in the blood, difficulty urinating, enlarged prostate, glaucoma then consult your doctor before using Albuterol (Salbutamol).
• Salbutamol might make you feel dizzy and therefore after consuming medication does not drive or operate machinery or any work that requires complete alertness.
• If you pregnant or want to become pregnant while taking Albuterol inhaler ten you need to discuss about the possible effects and benefits of this medication with your doctor.
• It is unknown if Salbutamol passes into the breast milk and therefore before breastfeeding talk with your doctor.
